The National Peace Academy

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

I’d like to share an item of interest that has come to my attention: The National Peace Academy in the United States. This group works with a definition of peace that is consistent with our underlying beliefs. Their mission statement is a positive call to action “… to support, advance and nurture cultures of peace by conducting research and facilitating learning toward the development of peace systems – local to global – and the full spectrum of the peacebuilder – inner and outer, personal and professional.”

Rainbows and Vision

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Many of us have experienced the wonders of looking intently at a rainbow that suddenly appears in a glorious sky for a fleeting moment… it is filled with meaning, inner peace, hope and joy for me.

Paraphrasing Marc Edmund Jones, founder of the Sabian Assembly — a most meaningful group of reference for me — the rainbow is the objective manifestation of the cosmic aura, a promise to always sustain inspiration, a guarantee that vision shall eternally manifest itself through all life circumstances as the pot of gold at the rainbow’s end. The real edifice of a human being’s individual vision is the cathedral of thoughts upon the structure of which he labors everyday.

Ideals create Energy

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Deny Lemaster, a Preaching Minister in Missouri, in one of his recent blogs made reference to James Taylor’s song, “Look up from Your Life”. And he writes:

“It’s a great thought. We can get so busy with our nose to the grind stone that we forget to look up.

“Kids grow up so fast, look up from your life!

“Your marriage can so easily be pushed aside and the dedication it needs given to other things, Look up from your life!

“We can get so wrapped up in doing that we forget……look up from your life!”

From my perspective, Deny’s comments dramatize the power of higher inspiration. He is highlighting the power to pay attention to our highest priorities in life.

In our exploration for inner peace, ideals are peaks that invite the individual to climb. They bring new levels of inspiration to the seeking soul.

Ideals have the power to create energy and direct our efforts to attain ever-higher goals.

Seeds of Peace

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Perhaps you have experienced through the course of life a yearning to deeply explore the meaning of inner peace and I relate very much with such a quest of the soul. My first memories of such need to explore the wonders if inner peace come from the time when I was 9 years old. Many years latter, my life was transformed when I first encountered Peace Pilgrim, a lady who walked a pilgrimage for 28 years, mostly in the United States, with a message of peace. (more…)

Serving the Human Family

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Contributing to a blog recently has inspired me to reflect about the joy of being and becoming ONE with God – “Thy will and mine are one”.

Mother Teresa was a role model of service to others and humanity at large, exemplifying the power of oneness through her constant dedication providing support to those in need and pain. I wish to share here some of her words of wisdom that have made a difference in my life: (more…)

Meaning in Experience

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

A young single mother was recently sharing about the struggles to raise her little boy as she strives toward a state of inner peace and search for happiness. She has the ideal to raise her son to be an upstanding young man and provide him with a full life. Her daily experiences have become an inspiration to reflect about difficult times in life. (more…)

Following the Call of Your Soul

Friday, February 13th, 2009

During a Superbowl Party, once the game was over, a young lady approached me and soon enough we were engaged in a lively conversation about meaningful aspects related with the mission in our lives. She is in the process of clarifying her own purpose during her college years and I could sense a bit of despair and anxiety as she is still in a state of uncertainty. My main comment was, “Follow the call of your Heart.” (more…)

Commitments

When contemplating the possibility of accepting new commitments as life becomes increasingly more complex I like to consider some of these questions as a meaningful part of my decision making process: (more…)
