This Growing Imagination

January 11th, 2012

Imagination is the normal manifestation of our higher inner stirrings and speaks of our creative power within.

My dear friend, Maria Talis, born in the Netherlands, has shared the fruits of her inspiration in her poems for peace and harmony. To listen to a glorious interpretation of this idea, visit her website about Music and Peace.

   This Growing Imagination

Can you imagine how it would be

If we could see the Beauty

In every existing form

That is known to us?

Could we express the harmony

Of all this Beauty?

How would it be if we could reflect

- In every glance, in every breath –

The Love which causes

All this harmony

And causes this Beauty?

Can you imagine how it would be

If we would try, just try to do this?

Reflecting on Service

December 30th, 2011

Many years ago, while walking on a street full of shops and restaurants in my hometown I noticed in a store window what seemed to be a sheet announcing something that was being sold inside.  I felt a strong desire to read it and it was then when I first encountered meaningful words of wisdom from Mother Teresa highlighting that at the heart of life is service.

Discovering the value of serving others in conceptual terms made an impact on me as I was precisely on the path of exploring my mission in life and how I would start fulfilling it, during those enthusiastic teenage years.

A beautiful Sufi melody speaks of this golden stepping stone to wholeness in living, an embrace of unity in generosity:

"From you… I receive
               to you… I give

              Together we share…
                from this we live."

I invite you to take a few moments for contemplation:

  • How am I contributing to the well–being of others in the present?
  • How can I better use my special talents?
  • What fields of potentially broader service to society would I like to explore?

Joyful thoughts as we embrace 2012!!!

Practical Balance

November 29th, 2011

Every once in a while I like to share with you some of the pearls of wisdom from Diane Dreher's “The Tao of Inner Peace.”  Take a look at this perspective of balance…

  • Look at the patterns that emerge.  Are your days balanced?
  • Are there some things you can delegate, eliminate, or otherwise simplify?
  • Is there anything missing from your life?
  • Can you make room for it by scaling down your involvement in other areas?
  • Think of yourself as an architect designing a beautiful living structure.

What I Want/What I Need

November 18th, 2011

Carol Zengara wrote, “Relinquishments in your Musings made me think of needs/wants. A friend of mine brought this to mind years ago. He suggested asking yourself: Do I "need" this or that or do I "want" this or that. Here speaking just from a material point of view. But taking the need/want a bit further: Why am I holding on to a particular destructive concept/reaction? Why do I "seem" to need/want to hold on?” She suggests, “relinquish what is no longer serving a viable/constructive purpose in our lives, when we can, and replace it with a fresh/positive/forward-growth-moving concept or affirmation. Easy to say but at times difficult to do.”

Brian Donley, who has become a good friend through our mutual author’s activities for years, highlights, in connection with my previous notes about relinquishments, a powerful sentence that is still reverberating in my mind, heart and soul…

"What I Want and What I Need are Exactly the Same THING."

Embracing this Moment

November 3rd, 2011

Living in the present gives intensity to all experience!!!

I would like to share with you today some of my core commitments as I rejoice in the wonders of the present moment, a time that is one with all.

I embrace and become one with this moment.  When in need to concentrate temporarily on a past instance perhaps to find deeper Near Sylvan Lake, South Dakotameaning, to assimilate the consequences of my actions, to learn to live without the presence of a beloved one, to appreciate and be thankful for all that has been or to bring new events into a wider perspective, I enter into the experience with the whole of myself and then return in a joyous embrace of the present and complete acceptance in the moment.  I breathe in the beauty around me.  In all circumstances, I experience the present as a glorious gift from the universe.

This is an invitation to share your impressions and own commitments with me as you feel inspired to do so.

     A Happy Day to You.

Poem on Forgiveness

October 8th, 2011

A dear friend who passed away a few years ago, member of the Sabian Assembly, wrote an inspiring poem on his book, “Shards.”

Forgiveness

To blame is to lose
Whether idea, object or soul.
Steer instead the course of conscience.
The star is love.
It guides forgiveness.

Inner Peace Commitments

September 21st, 2011

Today I would like to share with you some of my personal commitments for the attainment of inner peace and harmony and invite you to consider them in the light of your own current experience.

“This day I embrace serenity and peace on meeting and talking with people. In each situation that may require it, I explore and discover a mutual purpose that can contribute to a peaceful resolution of conflicts, and focus on common goals through the process. I am willing to establish an extended dialogue for problem solving in all situations and listen intently to other’s points of view, making my best effort to first understand them. I acknowledge that the everlasting source of happiness is inner peace.”

It has come crystal clear to me that when I am at peace with myself, I am at peace with others and in such embracing I contribute to the global picture of peace.

May this day be filled with the Divine Light that embraces the best in us all.

A Wedding Blessing

September 9th, 2011

My husband, Robert A. Kline, and I have enjoyed over two decades of a very happy and harmonious marriage, based on our mutual love, respect, trust and understanding.  When we celebrated our Silver Anniversary with dear family, we asked them all to sign a paper for us, as witness of our everlasting commitment.  This special document was written by my dear friend, Rusty Smith Carnarius, for other friends on the day of their wedding.  She has given me permission to share it with other people and I am joyful to post it for you today.

A Wedding Blessing, by Rusty Smith Carnarius

Health is Well Being

May your bodies always be the dwelling place of the love and the joy that you each feel today as, hand in hand, you look fearlessly towards your future together. Remember this sense of vibrant energy and bring it to the service of your daily living

Radiate well being.

Wealth is Endless Resource

May you always have EVERYTHING you need in each moment of your specific need for it. And may this day with its wealth of love and good wishes, which are given unstintingly by your families and your friends to surround you and support you, stand forever as a personal definition of richness.

                                    Use your resources generously.

Happiness is Sharing

May you continuously cherish one another so that each of you, feeling fulfilled and filled full, can walk your individual paths bringing to others that which you have found of gentleness, humor, and security through your marriage.

                                    Continue sharing.

Understanding is the Wellspring of Hope

Everything about us is always in a state of becoming. Help it to become better than it was when you found it and your relationship will, in its turn, bless your world.

                                    Embrace the hopeful.

I ask this in the name of All That Is, in which we as children of all faiths and persuasions live and move and have our Beingness.   Amen.

A Life of Purpose and Poise

August 23rd, 2011

Life is wonder-filled and it constantly opens opportunities for new friendships. One of my new friends sends me her reflections when she receives mine and it is a joy to discover the fruits of her mind at work.

When we enter into experience with the whole of ourselves and with creative aliveness and when we grasp the central essence of that experience inspiration is possible.

This is what she has to say about a life of Purpose and Poise:

"Crystal snowflakes are said to “grow”.  A crystal is formed when a liquid material is allowed to solidify under certain conditions.  Most crystals need a “seed”, a place for the crystal to begin; as do we all, when seeking a purposeful balance in our lives."

~ Carole Thompson

More on Relinquishments

August 10th, 2011

Another question in an interview by Charito Calvachi-Mateyko for radio WLCH 91.3 FM in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

She asked: Our mass media world sends us the message to monopolize everything and to have everything.  Does this mean that the spiritual world, characterized by abundance, affectionate caring, and sharing with everyone must be antagonistic with the ‘real’ world, characterized by material scarcity and the constant drive to have as much of everything as possible?

Answer: A remarkable British economist, E. F. Schumacher, has written a book about this from the perspective of Small is Beautiful.

True success, independent of our economic resources, is to dedicate our life to activities that encourage and support the spirit, independent of isolated profits. Truly successful people have profits that involve all their being and obtain a style of life that benefits, in addition to the individual, all those around him. As David R. Hawkins says in his book, Power vs. Force, truly successful people are courteous and considerate with everyone, treating all as equals. "Truly successful people see their position as a responsibility, an obligation to exert their influence for the greater benefit of all". He explains, "Success elevates us or destroys us, depending on how we integrate success in our personalities. If we are proud or humble; if we are egotistical or thankful; if we consider ourselves better than others because of our talents or we consider our talents a gift, and for them we are thankful — these are the determining factors.”
