Appreciating Peace Pilgrim

Peace Pilgrim became an inspiration in my life from the very first time I had the privilege to hear about her work 18 years ago during a video presentation in my hometown, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in a time when I was reflecting about my own spiritual Path and actions for the future. Her dramatization of the way of Peace has transforming power and she continues to influence my own work for peace in expanding ways.

Peace Pilgrim’s words resonate in my soul as we speak, “When I awoke at dawn I was back on the spiritual mountaintop with a wonderful feeling. I knew I would never need to descend again into the valley. I knew that for me the struggle was over, that finally I had succeeded in giving my life, or finding inner peace.”

We will be celebrating what would have been Peace Pilgrim’s 101st. Birthday in the town where she was born, Egg Harbor, New Jersey on July 17-19, 2009. The theme for this year is “Peace through Art and Music” (www.peacepilgrim100.org) The events will include, within others, a concert with folksinger Jody Kessler, a two-mile inter-generational Walk for Peace and historical tour to Peace Pilgrim’s childhood home, hosted by Peace Pilgrim’s sister Helene Young, and an old-fashioned pot-luck community picnic. We invite you to be with us as we celebrate Peace Pilgrim and how the pilgrimage continues.

Life has a joyful outlook through the experience of a vibrantly alive inner peace. In this gentle mood we know that even during the most difficult of times we have the spiritual resources to handle any situation we may encounter. In the process of living in peace with ourselves and others we develop a basic poise that becomes instrumental in transcending illness, dealing with natural disasters and confronting challenging situations and relationships. This approach to living lies in the understanding that all we experience has a purpose.

hi there first class little blogging site you have right here :) I use the identical template on my own website but for whatever nutty cause it seems to reload a lot quicker on yours despite the fact that your own features a little more content material. Are you applying any sort of plug ins or widgets that will quicken it up? Do you think you could possibly display the programs so that I could use them on my webpage so twilight eclipse supporters could watch twilight new moon online trailers and films easier I’d personally be pleased – thank you in advance :)
